Our started dogs are carefully selected from the best breeding available.
Sound genetics, trainability and pure desire are a few traits that we look for in our criteria.
We only purchase pups sired from FC/AFC studs and dams with these proven qualities.
Our started dogs are raised in our home beginning at the age of 7-8 weeks and treated like one of the family. They are crate trained and socialized among other dogs from the start. Our experience has shown that the pups are more open to the training process when directly exposed to us, as opposed to living in an outside kennel. This exposure also teaches house manners, acceptable and non-acceptable behaviors, which will allow you to take your dog to hotels, duck clubs or a friend’s home, without the concern of your dog being out of control and you not being welcomed back!
Once your started dog is ready to go home, they are between 12-18 months of age. They are crate trained, house broken, force fetched, collar conditioned, will work from a boat/ATV/pit or a dog blind and work from a remote position.
A started dog will also honor another dog, do double retrieves (land/water), be steady to shot and will be ready to hunt.
Started dogs that have not gone home when our season opens will experience actual hunts.
We strongly believe in service after the sale or after your dog has left our training program. Full Throttle Retrievers offers on going support via phone, e-mail, videos or one-on-one. If, in the future, you choose to advance your gun dog, we would be happy to continue the dogs training or direct you on how to proceed. We are only a phone call or an e-mail away.
